I hiked to the top of Yosemite Falls in 1980 with five other members of my family, and including my two young sons....spent the night there and listened to the roar of the falls all night long. Turned out to be my final hike in Yosemite, and although I've driven through it on many occasions...and will yet again shortly, have not done any serious hiking in a long time, even though I do possess a Gilded Age Passport. Also, in my younger years, made the hike up to the top of Half Dome a total of six times, usually accompanied with my younger brother.

That trail is the Aa trail. Aa is a type of lava. It's the jagged, sharp stuff. There are two basic types of lava. Aa and Pahoehoe. I was chief ranger at WUPA/SUCR a long time ago. We told people that the Hawaiians named them for one simple reason. They went barefoot and when they came to Pahoehoe, they liked to brush their foot across it and would say "Pah Hoe Hoe" a nice soothing sound. But it they had to walk across Aa, they made the noise that we all do if we're walking on pins and needles : "AH AH AH AH!" Maybe you should have spent some time in the visitor center. You might have learned something.

I want to thank you and others for the encouragement that you give to others. With yourself and the other people I follow, I have seen 33 national parks (8 in Canada) in 53 weeks. The influences that I have seen by you and the multiple vloggers have encouraged me to see not only National Parks but the rest of the country as well. I feel like the Griswolds going to Wally World. Though you will out hike me all day long I now see things that I could only see online, but because of you and the other people I follow, I am out doing things I would not have done 10 years ago. For that, I am eternally grateful. Thank you for what you do.

We have found that the Two Medicine area is often less crowded and delightful. We have never been in September, but that is our plan for future trips--love seeing the extra color. God bless!

Her family came in the 1820s to the Balsams where I would find her in 1960. She was from the Cowee Mtn area. Her grandmother taught in a one room school in Little Canada, NC. A first glance and our lives were joined until 2021 when I had to lay her to her rest up in the Balsams, the Great Smokies, really high up. The roof of the East Coast. Miss her something fierce. What I would give to see her again.

I lived in Polson for 5 years when I was in high school in the late 80s, early 90s, and we went up to Going to the Sun Road at least once every summer. I havent been there in 20 years, and now its so packed its hard to get in without reservations. Truly God's handiwork is on display. Jaw dropping scenery.

I have been to many places in the world. I have seen glacier in the arctic, desert in the Sahara, dried beach of Dead Sea, beautiful mountains of Patagonia and Swiss Alps. Last year I did a road trip from NY to Oregon, and I stopped by national and state parks along the way including this one. Sometimes I camped in the park. I realized there is no need to get out of America. We have all of these beautiful sceneries. We are truly blessed. Good job on filming the park, brings me back all the good memories.

Late 70s, 80s and early 90s. The Gorge was my home away from home. Now it feels like I'm on a leash. There's a cave I like. Path not beaten down. Plus if you don't know where to turn. You walk right over cave and don't realize it. Forget something. Round trip cave to car and back. 2 1/2 hours give or take. Hiking without gear.

so basically you did everything you're not supposed to: hiking alone in grizzly country during fall when bears are foraging, not making enough noise to make your presence known, filming a mother bear with yearling cubs from 30 yards away instead of immediately backing up and staring directly at the bears. You were lucky, very lucky.
